Dr Nisreen M. Khalifa is a Consultant Pediatric Oncologist in the Solid Tumor Unit at the NBK Children’s Hospital in Kuwait. Dr. Khalifa received her MD degree in 1992 from Assiut University in Egypt and completed her training in General Pediatrics in Assiut University Hospitals. She received her MSc degree in Pediatrics from Assiut University in 1997. Dr. Khalifa started her career in Oncology at the South Egypt Cancer Institute in Assiut University in 1998. She trained at National Cancer Institute. Cairo University before receiving her PhD in Pediatric Oncology in 2006 and becoming a faculty member at the South Egypt Cancer Institute. Dr. Khalifa joined the Pediatric Unit in the Medical Oncology Department at the Kuwait Cancer Control Centre in 2007. She later joined the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department at the NBK Children’s Hospital as a consultant. Prof. Ibrahim Al Alwan is a graduate of King Saud University. He completed Pediatric Residency Training at Alberta Children’s Hospital, Calgary, Canada (1993-1996) and a Fellowship Program in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Hospital of Sick Children, Toronto, Canada (1996-1999). Prof. Al Alwan joined the College of Medicine, Riyadh (COM-R), King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in 2004, and was promoted to Full Professor in 2012. He was appointed Dean, COM-R, KSAU-HS (2010-2014). Prof . Al Alwan is founder of the Saudi Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), established in 2004; and served as Chairman until 2012. He has also served the medical education field locally as member of the Pediatric Saudi Board, initiating and chairing the Saudi Board for Pediatric Endocrinology and the Pediatric Endocrine chapter of the Saudi Pediatric Association. Internationally, he served as President of Association for Medical Education in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (AMEEMR) from year 2011-2020.
At present, Prof. Al Alwan holds the position of Vice-President, Postgraduate Education at KSAU-HS and is a Consultant, Pediatric Endocrinology, Department of Pediatrics, King Abdulaziz Medical City – Riyadh.
